I missed you

I really should be working on my paper, but I feel compelled to blog instead because of my long absence. To be fair I blame people who do not update more, they let me feel relaxed and lull in my responsibilities. Shifty eyes.

Anyway, a lot has happened since I last updated, both in our lives and in the lives of our friends. We have had two friends have children, one person get pregnant (looking at you Karen), and a dear couple take their child home. That is only on the child front, and not even for us, but congrats to you all.
As for us, boy howdy, we had a great last week. Oma and Opa (Grandma and Grandpa) Demmitt came out to see us and our baby for the first time. I think they also came out to see my brother, and my sister with her family, but I cannot confirm that. We had a great time when they were here. Matt and Tina, grandparents, absolutely adored the grand children. While they may just be babies I think they did their best to impress them, and what a good job of it. They were spoiled rotten, hooray for them.
While they were here, we tried to show them the highlights of Utah life, it did not turn out very well, Provo is a boring place. However, we did have the annual Demmitt bowling classic which takes place every meeting we get. Once again Dad, Grandpa, reigned supreme. Alexis lost to him by 5 pins in the first match! I took second in the second match, but it was a runaway by then. Fiddlesticks.
We all had a good time while they were out, and we were sad to see them go. Fingers crossed we will see them for my graduation in April, which will be nice because Amanda will be one so she should be walking by then.

What else has transpired though in the last month(ish)? Amanda has learned to roll over! She can now roll over from her back to her stomach and her stomach to her back. She perfected the latter first, but it seems like she almost forgot how in learning how to roll over in her new way. Poor girl though will now roll over onto her tummy and stay there and cry. She rarely rolls herself over from her stomach now, and it seems like every five minutes I have to roll her back. It is adorable though. I am so proud to see her progressing. We are very blessed with such a healthy and happy child.

Alexis is doing great. She is knocking everyone dead with her awesome performance as a Brick Oven Supervisor. She likes the job more than being a driver, usually, so that is nice. She has to take a large test though about the intricacies of the business though, so I am keeping my fingers crossed for her. I am sure she will nail it. Other than that, she is doing peachy. She has started watching the Office and I must say I could not be happier. I do enjoy when people like good tv shows, yay office!

As for me, I am just plugging away at school. I have some massive papers left to do, and I am just now getting started on those. I cannot wait for it all to be done, but no sense in trying to rush it. I just hope that it all goes well. So far I have done well, but I can't rely on that, I need to keep pushing forward. Other than that not a lot is going on. I am waiting to get baptized in the next weeks. So good for me. That really is about it. We are just getting by day to day.

Here are adorable pictures:

This is Amanda trying to roll over. She would just hang out like this for minutes before giving up. Move that head baby!

Adorable.

Poor Tina has to try and juggle two babies. Amanda looks very concerned.

Hello Friends!

For the record, I really should be studying for my test tomorrow, but overconfidence assuages me yet again. Sorry for the long break, but school has been too taxing. Right now I am positively buried in studying and homework. I have a lot more reading this semester than I am typically used too. I guess that is the curse of all upper division classes, oh and a sadistic Humanities class. Actually, the reading for that class is not bad, it is just everything else for it. I would not recommend this class to anyone who has a life. I'll step off my soap box now. Seriously though, I love being back in school. I miss the intellectual challenge of it, but at the same time I wish the challenge would ratchet down a bit. It is amazing how confusing some of this stuff can be. I like most of my teachers, my D&C teacher is the best, and the classes are usually entertaining. However, I am really starting to regret my major. I wish I had done something practical, like engineering. Curse my inability to do math. There was a career fair today at school, and I realized, I am qualified for nothing. Great. Another issue to deal with Post Grad.

Enough about me, Alexis, poor girl, is fighting a Cold, Flu, Sinus, Death problem right now. I have banished her to the bedroom until she feels better. She wants a fudgesicle, but the sugar is bad for her. Frown. Other than dying, she is doing GREAT! She had her birthday last week, and we saw the Scarlet Pimpernel in West Valley at the Hale Center Theatre. The production was good, the stage was amazing, but the company was best. Afterwards we ran into President Monson. That is right, we casually bumped into the President of the Church. He was kind enough to shake hands and exchange pleasantries before departing. Alexis and I were flabbergasted, and then we started telling everyone we know. Sorry if we are just telling you. Afterwards we enjoyed a lovely dinner at Macaroni grill. Thank you Sara and Brittney for baby sitting Amanda and making this happen for us.

Amanda! What a noisy girl she is! She likes to squeal now for fun, and get into shouting contests. It is the strangest thing, she'll squeal, then I will, and she'll smile and just go ear piercingly high and loud, and then laughs. I think it is her new favorite game. She also does this when she wakes up in the morning. She will relax in her bed, talk, squeal, and giggle. She is so much fun, when she isn't driving us CRAZY! We love her very much, and are constantly proud of her. She is not yet eating solid foods, and she won't roll over from her back to her stomach yet, but she is still making remarkable progress. Here are a few of my favorite pictures of her from the last bit.

Amanda was actually too short to use her jumper. We had to put books underneath for her feet to touch. Even still she doesn't know how to use it.
Grandma and Amanda! My favorite part is the tiny bit of drool at her chin.

Moving Baby!

This week we celebrated Grandma's birthday. I think it was her 24th birthday, wink. So here are a few pictures from that. You can also see Courtney's baby too! I like the side by side of them. Poor Carolina just cant compare to Amanda. So heavy!

ALSO, Amanda rolled over for the first time on Friday. She did it three times, and she has not done it since. Now she seems to be working on crawling. She does not like repeating herself.

School starts tomorrow. That is all, be sad for me.

Capin' Crusaders Batman!

Well it is the end of an era. Really it is the end of two eras. Amanda is no longer the only grandchild or even granddaughter on my side of the family, and Karen and Rich are leaving the Reece stronghold of Provo, Utah. These two incidents managed to coincide within about a week of each other. It is a little too much to take at once. Lets begin:

Courtney welcomed her little bundle of joy Carolina Elizabeth into the world on the 13th of August. She was born at about 6 lbs 2 oz, but she is long! She has such long arms and legs.

Here I am holding her later that night. It is so fun holding her compared to Amanda, because Carolina is so light, but Amanda is a strain. I need to get back into weight lifting shape to lug her and her carseat around. I don't know how cave people did it, but well done! My mom has a great picture of Carolina and Amanda side by side in their car seats and Amanda just dwarfs her. It is so funny. I'll try to grab that picture when possible.

As for Karen and Rich, they are leaving for the great state of New York on Tuesday. Rich has a prestigious job opportunity in a field that cannot be discussed. How much intrigue is that! So they are jumping ship to take part in this wonderful opportunity. Alexis is heart broken. She has been scheming on ways to keep them here, but so far it has proved to be in vain. Sunday night, a farewell was thrown for them in their honor. It was great to see them one last time before they leave. I don't know that they know how big of a hole they are leaving behind. Side note: it was a really good potato bar last night, and I made about 100 cookies for the event. I am a baker.

Here though is my favorite part of the blog. These are the pictures we got of Amanda at Walmart, enjoy.

Woohoohoo!

What busy lives we lead. Amanda is growing bigger, Alexis is working, and I am... typing. Things are going well for the Demmitt family. Amanda has been suffering from a cold for almost two weeks, but she seems to have beaten it. Poor girl. We took her in to the doctor's twice; once for the initial evaluation and a second time because she was running a slight fever. However, she looks to have turned the corner and should be doing well. She now weighs 12 pounds! She also hates Tummy Time. I find that rather ironic as she used to do so well at it in the NICU, and now she can't seem to stand it. I worry about her, but Alexis insists she is just being a baby (pun intended). We took her to Walmart last week to get some pictures taken and it was fun. It was really fun until they priced the pictures for us. The photographer was also very friendly...until she realized she would not be getting a large commission, oops. We won't get the pictures until August 20, but we will put them up as soon as we do.
As for Alexis, she is really taking to her new job. Her co-workers and managers really like her there. It is nice having someone who actually works. She is keeping busy not only at work but at home with Amanda as well. She recently sewed some changing pad covers for Amanda. I had forgotten what a seamstress she is. She is now planning on doing some other projects to occupy her time. She is also responsible for getting Amanda to sleep more. She has done wonders with that. She is the baby whisperer.
As for me, Jeremy, I am just finishing my sentence, I mean time, at Kmart. I put in my two weeks notice, and I am very excited to go back to school. Being out of school has made me appreciate the great gift of education even more. I consider myself very lucky to be going to such an amazing school. I cannot wait to start. Hooray for me!
Also, my dad and his wife Tina will be coming out in October and I am looking forward to it very much. It will be great for them to see little Amanda and Courtney's baby. Speaking of Courtney, she is due next Saturday, but we'll see if she is late or not. Keep her and her baby in your prayers. Good luck to her.
Last, and CERTAINLY not least, football is starting. Hallelujah.

Crazy!

I have no idea where to begin. Everything has been so busy and hectic lately. Most importantly, we had the Reece family Reunion which was hosted by Karen and Rich. It was a very busy few days, but terribly fun as well. We started with a barbecue on Thursday night. Almost everyone attended the bbq, and for good reason too because the food was great. We also played with a parachute and played red rover over at the school. Karen is scary when she plays Red Rover. I thought she was going to take off Amber's arm. FYI. We managed to escape without too many injuries.
Friday was a busy day, that I missed out on almost entirely because I was at work. Alexis was able to go though. However I did make it to the evening's festivities where we enjoyed a game of Killer Bunnies and the Quest for the Magic Carrot. I believe Rich won the game. Saturday was my favorite day because the boys got to go Golf in the morning and then we played Wii in the afternoon while "babysitting".
All in all it was a great couple of days, although brutally exhausting. It probably did not help that I stayed up late playing X-box with Scott, Rich, and Ben but that is not important...
Right after the Reunion we had the next most important July event, my birthday. I requested the day off from work, and I did my best to make the most of it. So I did what every man wants to do, nothing. It was great. I played video games, slept, and was generally lazy. Alexis kept trying to get me to do stuff, but I was adamant in my refusal. That night my friend Jason took me to play pool, and I forgot how bad we are at that game, but it was fun, so what more can one ask for? Afterwards, the family wished me a happy birthday and I opened gifts. My sister took pictures, so I'll have to get some from her. All in all, it was a great birthday.
That about sums up my story. Alexis has started her job as a Delivery Driver in Orem for Brick Oven. So far it is slow, but we are hoping it will pick up. Alexis is optimistic. She is listening to a book on tape that she loves, so I am glad she does not hate her job. I would also like to thank Sara for being an amazing sister in law. Without her we would not be able to be working at this time. So, thank you Sara.
Amanda continues to grow. She is now sleeping in her crib. Well, sometimes she is sleeping in her crib, and other times she is simply laying in her crib staring at her mobile. We are trying to teach her to go to sleep, but it is not going over well. We tried to let her cry herself out the other night, but her ability to cry outlasts my ability to listen. Instead of Alexis breaking down, I had to run into the other room to calm her down. Alexis did not appreciate that so much. We have decided to wait until she is better adjusted to her crib before we try anything else with her. She is just so young.

Anyway, here are some pictures of the family:

Belated Update

Well what a month (ish) it has been. I feel bad not updating the blog, but sometimes it is rather difficult because nothing major happens, and it seems silly to post saying "Hi...". After a month though, there is adequate news to cover.

Things are going well for our little family. I am still working at Kmart, and now with my extra time I am studying for the LSAT. I took a practice test and did terrible, so I am redoubling my efforts on the matter. I always figured the test would be difficult, but I am woefully underprepared. Thankfully I have plenty of time to work on it. Speaking of kmart, I was voted Employee of the Month! Hooray for me and my ten dollar gift card. I campaigned hard to win, and I am glad it paid off.

On a sadder note, the one of my tires went flat last night, and I was engaged in quite the struggle to change it, especially after I realized that my spare was flat too. I wish I had noticed before I put the spare on. Thankfully I have since had it replaced (at an exorbant cost) and I hope that it will be ok for now. That is about all I have done and am doing. I have the Reece family reunion to look forward to this month as well as my birthday, so go me! Oh, and I can't forget Harry Potter. Alexis is looking forward to seeing that as well, and we could not do it without Karen and Rich who also babysat so we could see Transformers 2. Alexis and I still love midnight showings. Whatever will we do when Karen and Rich leave?

Alexis is constantly keeping busy with Amanda. Also, in order to save some more money before school starts up, Alexis offered to get a part time job, and today she interviewed at Brick Oven in Orem, and was immeadiately offered a position. So hooray for her! I knew her hard work would pay off, and I am very grateful for her doing this. Amanda will miss her terribly, but I will get to spend more time with her.

Amanda is doing great. She is such a talkative young lady! It is funny because she will sit there and make noise for hours on end. I think she even talks in her sleep. She is now a monster though at 9 lbs 7 oz. She is so short though! She is an adorable girl though. However she is getting a little baby acne, so she is not too happy about that. The doctor said that he is impressed with her strength and growth. BEcause of how fast she is growing I am convinced she was meant to be a big baby. Alexis is now really happy that she was born early (wink).

The pictures we posted were from the Father's day BBQ at Ben's place. We decided we wanted to get a picture of Amanda with her family in the event anything were to ever happen. We are really happy with how they turned out. The one of her in her stroller is from the Children's parade. She strolled the whole thing! She also slept the entire time. It was fun, I had to leave halfway through to go to work, but I am glad I went.

That is about all from us. We are just trying to enjoy our summer and our family time. Thanks to everyone who has been so supportive of us. Hugs.
